Ron Clause, 51, is charged with assaulting a peace officer.

A man charged with attacking an OPP officer during a traffic stop has links to an outlaw motorcycle club and a past conviction for assaulting a cop. Ron Clause was charged with assaulting a Middlesex OPP officer last week after cops pulled over a pickup truck that they say was carrying a gun, ammunition and 27 grams of meth. Clause was convicted of the same crime in 1996 and sentenced to four months in jail. A separate charge of assaulting a police officer that year was withdrawn.

One of them is Ryan Mark Daigneault, president of the London Outlaws chapter, who was charged with organizing a hit on a Hells Angels three years ago. The Crown withdrew the charge against Daigneault in 2018, one week before he was supposed to go to trial for counselling to commit murder. The Hells Angels were said to be not pleased and would seek retribution. “The Hells Angels will lose credibility if nothing happens,” one Outlaw said. Nothing happened. Gold robbers escape in Mexico, again

A light plane, described as a "Cessna-206 type," landed, and within 10 minutes everyone was gone.

Canadian miner Alamos Gold Inc. reports that a group of armed robbers intercepted gold dore bars on the runway at its Mulatos mine site in Mexico. The Mulatos mine is an open pit gold mine located in Sonora about 200km east of Hermosillo city. Five heavily armed robbers subdued security guards who were loading the bars for transport on a plane.

No one was hurt. The take is 2,600 ounces of dore bars, which are around 80% gold. That would make the heist worth a cool $3.2m. A mine owned by Mineria Penmont, a subsidiary of Fresnillo, was robbed a few weeks ago. Armored trucks transporting ingots were attacked and robbed by armed men in Caborca, Sonora.

It was not the first highway robbery of precious metals mined by Penmont, 47 doré bars, 722 kgs, were stolen in November.

Laval police target synthetic drug ring linked to Hells Angels, again

235 police from across Quebec have been searching 13 locations in Laval and Montreal. Nine people have been arrested so far. Cops have seized cocaine, meth, cash and weapons. The operation is part of an investigation that started in February 2018 when the Canada Border Services Agency intercepted 200 packages of Xanax. Since 2018, police have seized 200,000 Xanax pills and meth in Laval.

Cops say this drug ring is an offshoot of a nearly identical operation that was targeted in 2015. In October of that year, police seized two million pills, three guns, a bulletproof vest, $200k in cash and five pill presses during raids in Laval.

Massive Toronto cab scam busted, again

Dylan Hudecki was taking a taxi home on Sept. 30, 2018. The cabbie insisted on debit payment. The first time he tried to pay he was told something wasn’t working, and to try again. Once he paid, the driver handed him a debit card that looked like his. The next morning his bank account had $4,989 missing — just under the $5k for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

The debit card he got back after he paid belonged to somebody else.

This week Toronto cops announced an ongoing fraud investigation into a taxi fare scam that has so far led to the arrests of six people on more than 260 charges. The scam is not new. In January 2016, Toronto police received more than 65 reports of the card-switching trick in the span of a few months. In June of that year, Muhammad Tariq and Ahmed Dogar were arrested for the scam. Adnan Jahangir, also of Toronto, was hit with almost 200 fraud charges in Sept. 2017 for the same thing.

Cops are warning citizens to never let their cards out of their sight.
