Mexico’s president revealed a recent online video, which shows public officials sifting through large piles of cash. The men are Rafael Caraveo Opengo, former technical secretary of the Senate Administration Committee, and Guillermo Gutiérrez Badillo, private secretary to the governor of Queretaro. The President speculated the money was just one installment of bribery payments from the former director of state oil company Pemex, Emilio Lozoya. Lozoya was extradited from Spain to face charges for his role in the massive kickback scheme orchestrated between officials at Pemex and their counterparts at Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht. |
Rafael Caraveo Opengo | Guillermo Gutiérrez Badillo | Emilio Lozoya has pleaded not guilty. |
