Arsène Mompoint whacked - update V

In 2021 the SQ released an image of the shooter. The hit was captured on video.

The Sûreté du Québec carried out four search warrants in Montreal in July as they investigate the death of gang leader Arsène Mompoint, who was killed in Kanesatake on July 1, 2021. The shooter got out of a grey sport utility vehicle and shot Mompoint at point blank range. A burned out van was found nearby. Mompoint, 47, was shot 3 times in the head while in a cannabis dispensary the Green Room in Kanesatake. Mompoint was linked to the Reds street gang and was the leader of 'Unit 44' a group that carried out hits for organized crime, particularly the mafia. Mompoint worked for murdered Salvatore Scoppa. Mompoint was in conflict with other top players in Montreal organized crime, including gang leader Gregory Woolley, who is close to the Sicilians.

The Sûreté du Québec released a photo of a man who wore a black cap, gray hoodie and black pants. His face is covered with a gray bandana.

The Gabriels are feared in Kanehsatake Mohawk territory, but respect there is none.

Robert Gabriel stands six feet four, with a long rap sheet that includes a pair of armed assault convictions. The owner of the Green Room was sitting beside Arsène Mompoint when 3 bullets were planted in the back of his head. Gabriel’s operation often has Hells Angels sitting out front, and there have been a long string of arsons at competing pot shops. 26 dispensaries now dot Route 344, and two more shops are set to open. More will interfere in HA business at Kanehsatake.

Gary and Robert Gabriel are famous for importing 7 times the amount of industrial waste allowed onto Mohawk territory. Robert Gabriel was first convicted of armed assault in 1988 and in 1997. His rap sheet includes convictions for aggravated assault and uttering threats. He was also sentenced to 15 months for his role in a riot in 2004.
