Mexico extradited Ovidio Guzmán López, son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, to the United States on Friday. Mexican security forces captured Guzmán López, 'the Mouse,' in January in Culiacan. The resulting violence killed 30.

A federal judge in Mexico City had granted a stay halting extradition proceedings against Ovidio Guzmán. At a hearing held in Altiplano prison in México state, Guzmán was officially remanded to pretrial detention and the judge granted the U.S. 60 days to file documentation on the charges he will face if extradited. It could be a long time before Guzman touches US soil. Biden was in Mexico City and had a meeting with Mexican President López Obrador. |
