Gangster turned politico Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj by unidentified gunmen while they were being escorted by police. Atiq Ahmed was an Indian criminal, gangster, and politician. He had served as a member of the Indian Parliament and the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Samajwadi Party. He had more than 100 criminal cases registered against him and was in jail from 2019 until his assassination. Ahmad’s son Asad was killed in a police encounter on April 13.
