Around 2 a.m. on July 11th, two guards responsible for a Brinks truck stopped at a Flying J truck stop along Interstate 5. They were away from the vehicle for about 27 minutes. Brinks first said that the total value of the items taken was less than $10m but a report in the Los Angeles Times says that the figure could be more than $150m. The robbery occurred when the high-security vehicle pulled over on its way from one gem show in San Mateo to another in Pasadena outside Los Angeles. Robbers made off with a massive haul that included diamond, sapphire and gold jewellry, as well as a horde of Rolex, Cartier and Franck Muller luxury watches. |
