Royal Virgin Islands cops busted Pedro Samuel Sr. and Reno Alphonso, 27, after a search of their vessel returned 441kg of cocaine. The BVI has been seen as a hub for drug traffickers, and the April arrest of former BVI Premier Andrew Fahie suggests that criminal activity has reached the highest levels of government. The case is currently set to go to trial on Jan. 17.
Fahie, who is facing life in prison if convicted, was replaced as premier by Natalio Wheatley. |
