Toors guilty of importing cocaine - sentenced

Gurminder and Kirandeep Toor have finally been sentenced. The couple was found guilty on drug charges in April 2021. Gurminder Toor bought 10 years and Kirandeep Toor 9 years. They were found guilty after attempting to smuggle $8m of cocaine from Montana into Alberta while hauling produce in late 2017. Gurminder Singh Toor, 31, and Kirandeep Kaur Toor, 26 were convicted on charges of importing cocaine into Canada on Dec. 2, 2017. 84 bricks of cocaine weighing 99.5 kg was seized. At the time, Canada Border Services Agency said it was the largest cocaine seizure by CBSA in Alberta.
The defence argued the drugs could have been placed in the vehicle without the couple's knowledge when they stopped for gas. The jury didn't buy it.
