Colombo boss Andrew 'Mush' Russo wins bail - dies

Long time boss 'Mush' was able to die surrounded by his loved ones as opposed to in prison.
Andrew 'Mush' Russo, 87, was charged in a union shakedown, and won his freedom with a $10m bond. The street boss was sunk by underlings using their cell phones for family business. “Hey this is the 2nd text, there isn’t going to be a 3rd,” one texted to a union official. Millennial mobsters are said by their elders to be obsessed with their phones, lacking street smarts, and stupid. They are reluctant to make the young criminals made men.

Russo was allowed home detention.
Russo was born in New York in 1935, the cousin of Carmine Persico. From 1973 to 1975 he served as acting underboss. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 1986. He was released on parole in 1994 and became street boss after Persico's arrest. In 1999, he was convicted of jury tampering, and he served 57 months. In 2010, he took over the family after his parole expired, succeeding the caged street boss Ralph DeLeo. In 2013, he was sentenced to 33 months in prison.
