Carlos Almada Castrillo - El Pollo

Carlos Almada Castrillo was head of Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación operations in Guadalajara, and could have been a key witness for U.S. prosecutors. But he was found hanging in a Mexican jail cell in March. Experts say the 27-year-old's death is likely a murder to prevent him from testifying in the U.S.

"El Chicken" is one of three high-ranking members of CJNG to die before officials could secure their extraditions to the U.S. CJNG has an estimated 5,000 members and is operating in at least 35 states and Puerto Rico.
Rubén Oseguera González -'Menchito' Almada grew up with the cartel leader's son, Rubén Oseguera González, and remained part of his inner circle. Menchito stood to inherit control of the cartel but was arrested in Mexico in 2017 and sits in a U.S. jail cell awaiting trial.

Mexican officials announced Almada's arrest, but they have said nothing of his death. It remains 'under investigation'. Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, aka El Mencho, is thought to have ordered the killing. Eleno Madrigal Virrueta, "El 20," was found dead in August 2019 inside a Mexican jail cell, sharing the fate of Adrián Gómez Meza.
