| Yaba (Thai: ยาบ้า, Lao: ຢາບ້າ, literally 'mad drug' or 'crazy pill'), are tablets containing a mixture of methamphetamine (25-35mg) and caffeine (45-65mg). The use of this drug combination is widespread, particularly in South and Southeast Asia. | |
| In the Philippines and Indonesia it is shabú. In China it is ma-goo or ma-guo. Yaba tablets are typically consumed orally, but can be smoked or injected. Increase in the use of methamphetamine, globally, has outpaced that of any other drug. | |
Yaba is cheap due to it's excess supply and extremely addictive. Within a few days of consistent use, an individual can become hooked. Rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure and damage to blood vessels in the brain (which can cause a stroke) are synonymous with yaba use. Yaba abuse and addiction cause serious mental issues. A person often displays extreme paranoia and confusion. Anxiety, aggression and violence are common. Yaba withdrawal is extremely unpleasant and lasts for several days.
