Judge cuts gangster Leonid “Lenny” Gershman a break - 16.5 years

Leonid “Lenny” Gershman — who made headlines due to his expensive tastes was sentenced to 16.5 years in prison, which was a decade shorter than what prosecutors had sought. Gershman, 36, was convicted on charges of racketeering, extortion, illegal gambling and loan sharking. Prosecutors argued that Gershman should do between 28 and 35 years behind bars, describing him as the violent head of the “Thieves-In-Law” gang.
