Gambino Mob Boss Cali shot and killed on Staten Island - Update

Video reportedly shows a suspect’s truck deliberately hitting Cali's vehicle — perhaps to get Calì to come out of his home. The two shake hands, the license plate from the suspect's vehicle falls off, the suspect picks up the license, hands it to Cali, then pulls a gun and shoots as Cali puts the license in his own car. Cali, 53, was shot six times.
Francesco Cali, the boss of the Gambino crime family, was fatally shot outside his home on Staten Island. Police received a report about the shooting outside 25 Hilltop Terrace in the Todt Hill section of Staten Island around 9:20 p.m. There was a report of a blue pickup truck leaving the scene around the time of shooting. Cali was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital. It has been decades since a Mafia boss was killed in New York.
The assassination of Cali came on the same day that Joseph Cammarano Jr., the reputed acting boss of the Bonanno crime family, was acquitted at trial.

Todt Hill is known for its Mafia history. Castellano, who was the last Gambino boss to be assassinated, owned a home on Benedict Road. A home on nearby Longfellow Road served as the filming location of the Corleone compound in “The Godfather.”
Big Paulie and his bodyguard are taken off the board in 1986 allowing John Gotti to become boss of the Gambino crime family.
