Altaf Shaikh, 43, worked as a cash custodian manager at the ICICI Bank in Mumbais Dombivali for 9 years. Inspired to steal from the bank's vault after watching the web series Money Heist, Shaikh spent a year planning his caper. The heist of Rs 34 crore ($4.1m) was executed on July 9 on a bank holiday. Shaikh disabled the alarm systems and removed all the hard disks of the CCTVs. Once the system was disabled, he used an air conditioning duct to move the cash.
