“We have successfully put a hurting to the Sinaloa drug cartel,” said the DEA.
Agents tracked the transportation of drugs from Mexico across the border up to the Bay Area. They also followed the flow of firearms, including grenade launchers and sniper rifles, procured in the U.S. across the border into Mexico. Of the 44 busted, 19 are in custody, 13 were detained and released, and 12 are at large. One of the largest meth seizures in Northern California, the investigation was dubbed Operation Burnt Orange. |
