Mobster Peter Gotti was sentenced to 25 years in prison after his 2003 conviction on racketeering and other charges. He took control of the Gambino crime organization after his mob boss brother, John Gotti, was locked up. Peter Gotti was 81 years old when he died at a Federal Medical Center prison. He was twice denied compassionate release. |
The 'Teflon Don' John Gotti was caged in 1993, and his son John Gotti Jr. took over the reins of the crime family until 1999 when he too was jailed. The mantle then fell to Peter Gotti whose own brothers were reluctant to have him become a made man because of his lack of intelligence. Even as a child Peter Gotti was considered stupid, and that reputation grew as the years passed. He served 17 years of his 25-year racketeering sentence. His lawyer says he's dying. Gotti reportedly suffers from an enlarged prostate, gastric reflux and early onset dementia. |
