NYPD 'Mafia cop' Louis Eppolito, who was convicted of a score of mafia hits for the Lucchese crime family died in federal prison this fall while serving out a life sentence. He was 71 years old. |
Eppolito was convicted of eight mob killings between 1986-1990 along with his partner cop Stephen Caracappa. The pair passed on information about ongoing police investigations to the mafia, including the names of informants, while working as cops for the NYPD. Caracappa died of cancer in a federal prison in North Carolina in 2017. |
