Cops in Costa Rica have made the largest drug seizure in the country’s history after discovering more than five tons of cocaine hidden in a container due to be shipped to the Netherlands. The drugs were concealed in a consignment of flowers at the port of Moín, Limón. 202 suitcases contained a total of 5,048 packages of cocaine weighing around one kilo each. The cocaine was destined for Rotterdam. Police arrested a 46-year-old Costa Rican. |
La Nación reported on May 15 that no Costa Rican beach is totally free of drug trafficking. Costa Rica’s National Coast Guard Service identified 254 suspected drug boats last year, more than double the 125 reported in 2015. |
