Australian drug smuggler Cassandra Sainsbury has had her bid for freedom delayed after a series of incidents in her Colombian jail. Sainsbury was sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of trying to smuggle 6kg of cocaine out of Colombia in April 2017. 'Cocaine Cassie' was due to begin the parole process this year after serving three-fifths of her sentence. Sainsbury was caught trying to fly out of Bogota's El Dorado International Airport with 5.8kg of cocaine stuffed into 18 headphones hidden in her luggage. | She was nailed after a tip-off from the US Drug Enforcement Agency. |
Taking into account a seven-month reduction in her sentence for good behavior, she could be released next year. |
