Salvatore Scoppa executed

Salvatore Scoppa, 49, was shot in the head and chest and was taken to a hospital around 10 p.m. He was later pronounced dead. Scoppa is the brother of Montreal Mafia leader Andrea Scoppa. Police say the hit is linked to organized crime.

Salvatore Scoppa had been shot in 2017 but survived. Homicide investigators had raided Scoppa’s home in Laval only two months earlier. He was being investigated for the disappearance of two men who were reported missing in 2013. Cops had warned Scoppa as early as 2015 that his life might be in danger.
The murder of a Mafioso during a family reunion at a Laval hotel is perceived as a message to the clan led by his brother. Salvatore Scoppa is described as a man who made bizarre decisions and attracted many enemies. Scoppa escaped his fate in February 2017. He is suspected of having been involved in a dozen murders.

The Sûreté de Québec say they have detained seven men who imported and trafficked cocaine. The men are between the ages of 24 and 52 and were arrested in Montreal and suburbs to the north. Among those arrested was Andrea (Andrew) Scoppa. Scoppa, 52, was arraigned on four charges at the Montreal courthouse.

Three search warrants were executed leading to more than $900k cash, 113.5 kilograms of cocaine, 127 kilograms of cannabis and 50,000 methamphetamine pills. Three prohibited weapons were also seized.

The residence of mafioso Salvatore Scoppa was raided by the Sûreté du Québec in Laval. Scoppa had reportedly been residing in Mexico and Peru. He returned to Quebec with a serious arm injury.

Salvatore Scoppa is the brother of another influential member of the Montreal mafia, Andrea "Andrew" Scoppa. Like his brother Salvatore, the 53-year-old is linked to heroin and cocaine trafficking. Salvatore Scoppa has not been arrested and is not facing any criminal charges at this time.

Andrea 'Andrew' Scoppa, 52, was reportedly arrested with other individuals two weeks ago, questioned and then released. Scoppa is considered by police as an influential player in the Montreal Mafia and to have very close contact with the Hells Angels, mobsters and to Greek, Lebanese and Arabic street gangs. Scoppa remained on good terms with those who took the reigns after the natural death of Vito Rizzuto in December 2013. He was independent of the factions in the Montreal Mafia and had no part in the struggle for influence that has decimated the Rizzuto clan.
During the Colosseum investigation by the RCMP on the Montreal mafia between 2001 and 2006, it was learned Andrea Scoppa had been at the heart of a territory dispute with Hells Angels Yves "Led" Leduc. Leduc wanted to eliminate his rival before the murdered mafia leader Moreno Gallo settled the dispute. Leduc, 53, was sentenced to over 15 years in prison for drug trafficking and conspiracy to commit murder in the wake of operations 'Ziplock' and 'SharQc'. Leduc obtained his release after serving half his sentence in 2014.
Andrea Scoppa is the brother of Salvatore Scoppa, formerly a major player in the Montreal Mafia. A reported contract hanging over his head forced him to move away from the city last fall.

Andrea Scoppa has a reputation for being active in the heroin trade. He was sentenced to six years in prison in 2004 for importing cocaine from the US. Scoppa is also said to have very close links to the Quebec Hells Angels.
