| Feds unsealed six indictments that accused five physicians, a nurse-practitioner, a pharmacist, two office workers, and a patient with collectively putting 8.3m Oxycodone pills in the hands of New York drug dealers. One Queens practice alone is accused of illegally moving more than 6 million pills while also defrauding Medicare to cover up the crimes. The head of the clinic, Dr. Dante Cubangbang, 50, and nurse practitioner John Gargan, 62, allegedly ran the pill mill from January 2012 through last month. In exchange for the prescriptions, “the patients were required to pay $300 in cash for each visit.” |
 In a separate case, Staten Island doctor Carl Anderson, 57, conspired to put nearly 1 million pills into the hands of drug dealers. | From January 2015 through May 2018 the pair wrote about 19,000 oxycodone prescriptions for their 'patients' and the clinic made $5.7m. The prescriptions were filled at local pharmacies and then “crew chiefs” would buy the pills from the patients and sell them to drug dealers. Manhattan psychiatrist Anthony Pietropinto, 80, allegedly doled out 600,000 oxycodone pills between October 2013 and May 2018. |  |
